Oceanfront Landscaping Project Overview
This Ali’i Dr oceanfront property near Kailua-Kona was in need of an upgrade. We began by creating a computer-generated draft for the pool slide area and cleared away any plants that didn’t fit into the new landscape design. To give the slide a realistic look, we used lava rock to craft gentle slopes and blue daze ground cover at the base to resemble an active volcano flowing into a blue ocean. We also installed new planters, and turf, and improved the irrigation system while adding lava rock stairs at the entrance to give it a more polished look. Finally, we replaced some of the banana trees with a Tree of Life(Lignum Vitae) to separate the yard visually and make it look more manicured. Building the Custom Pool Slide
Once the computer-generated design was done, our team of landscapers got to work. The first step was to clear away all unwanted plants and clean up debris from the area. Next, our Kailua-Kona landscapers got to work building the mountain using lava rock as the foundation. We created gentle slopes in order to give it a more realistic look and added blue daze ground cover to the base of the mountain. Once the mountain facade was complete, our landscapers were able to plant the tropical plants including birds of paradise in the middle and bright red hibiscus at the top of our active volcano-inspired pool slide.
Installing Planters & Flowerbeds
Once the computer-generated draft was complete and the pool slide was built, our landscapers focused their attention on the rest of the property. Our team of professionals installed new planters and flowerbeds around the area to give the property a more vibrant feel. We also added mulch to each bed to help retain moisture and installed edging to keep the soil and mulch in place. Following the flowerbed and planter installation, we added turf to the area to create new lawn space. Finally, we upgraded and updated the irrigation system to accommodate the new plants and lawn area.
Finishing Touches
Finally, to complete this transformation we removed some banana trees in one of the planters and replaced it with a Tree of Life (Lignum Vitae) to separate the yard visually and make that area look manicured. We also installed lava rock stairs at the entrance to the pool slide area to complete the look and feel of the property. The results of this project speak for themselves.
